Try a RF choke to ground so the L has a DC ground path. That will at least
drain off the
atmospheric static and perhaps save a rx front end FET from failure.  Keep
the L for TX and run some separate RX antenna so you have some null
steering for the noise source locations. A K9AY, EWE, flag, pennent, coax
loop, etc.....all that stuff works. Mike WA3TTS
