This part of the Pacific is under storm cover for the past few days and 
expected to hang around for
the week,  QRN levels are pretty high,  I have heard signals on the band 
but just too much work to
pull them out of 20 over crashes.  That may be some indication of why 
not many Pacific stations on.
Heavy rains here for the past week also, and now 50 mph wind gusts to boot.
