Bill,

I routinely change out or replace chassis IEC connectors with the CORCOM 
6EF1.  Cost of the EMI filter is generally a function of the number of 
sections.

One item to note is that many manufacturers incorrectly install the IEC EMI 
device with the plastic ring pressed against the chassis opening, rather 
than the opposite side where the metal filter comes into contact with a 
metal chassis.  This is done by the manufacturers for aesthetics, but it 
compromises the performance of the filter.  Or, in the alternative, the EMI 
filter ground tab should be bonded to the chassis if the filter will be 
mounted the former way.

Believe it or not, the electronic control head for the Bird RF Analyst had 
its IEC connector wired that way in early units.  Bird later corrected the 
filter mounting in later units. But of all the folks who should know 
better...
