Topband Alumnus,

Being just as competitive in nature as the rest of the participants, I 
knew that I couldn't compete with the gents on the East coast.
Living in North Texas, even with a reasonably good station, I knew that 
my scores wouldn't be in the same category.
No use in worrying about it.

This may be an over simplification, but I look at it this way. I compare 
the contest results to stations in my geographical area. I view it as a 
location leveler. This is the only equable comparison, or bench mark to 
evaluate one's performance. Not everyone's cup-of-tea, but it works for me.
