For what its worth, I take steel fence posts and pound them into the ground
about 12 -18 inches. I then take 2" pvc pipe and just slide over the top of
them. The pvc pipe is ten feet long with a slice in the top for the beverage
wire. The wires always stay in the slice and at ten feet the deer have never
taken one down. Its easy in the spring to take them down so the fields can
be farmed. I also have a twin wire one and just glued a T on top with a
couple six inch stubs with slots cut in the ends. I have them spaced about
every 75 feet, your spacing could be what works best for the wire sag. The
posts can be bought at 5 or 6 or 7 foot lengths for whatever depth you want
to make sure they are solidly in the ground
