I think this is good advice. There are too many legitimate products
designed for this use to play with silicon grease.

Manufacturers of connectors give a little silicon grease, to be used
as a lubricant for the o-rings, but don't recommend for use on the
actual connectors. Unless you know what the rf dialectric is, or the
long term effect on the metal connection is, it's probably better to
not do it.  de KL7HF
