At my previous QTH, there were no obvious landmarks for North
(treetops), so I always set the rotor to 30-degrees because I knew that
was the heading where a good sighting landmark did exist (aimed straight
down my roof-line). >>
Okay. Or any other known landmark/heading. In most communities, some of
the streets are laid out north-south and east-west.
