Hi Dick
I have the same setup as you except my run is about 200'. My rotor is an
older T2X that I rebuilt with new grease, RF beads, new connector etc. I
also have the DCU-1 controller. I have not experienced this problem here
in Minnesota. It has been a mild winter so far but I tested the rotor
last year off the tower to -30F. I'm wondering if you are getting some
binding at your thrust bearing or something when it is getting cold. Just
an idea to look at.

[TowerTalk] Tailtwister Start Problems at Low Temps

Since the rotor is base-mounted and very easy to access, I've considered
putting some heat tape around it (I've got 110VAC on a pedestal right
next
to the tower.) It looks like the best place to wrap it would be around
the
lower (fixed) portion of the rotor. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot
of
room down there, and I'm not sure I can get enough tape around it to make
a
difference. I'd rather not have the heat tape riding around on the
movable
portion. Of course, I'm not wild about having heat tape running all
winter.
Anybody else tried this?

Thanks for any help,
