There was an article in QST in about 1957 about mounting antennas on
telephone poles. This material was repeated in ARRL Handbooks and antenna
for many years (thru the late 70's).

I used this method to mount a Gonset Tri-bander (18' boom)and then two
quads. It works and allows for most any rotators. I started with an old
CDE TV type and later used the HAM-M. The top coupling turns to help
installing the mast and also acts as a sleeve bearing to take some of the
weight and downward moment off the rotor. You do need the bottom mounting
section.

Maybe its time for QST to repeat the article (or someone may have an updated
version)...get it in print.

The other option is to build a track system up the pole. Then you can raise
and lower the antenna/rotor. K5RFJ (now W4XJ) used this type of of system.
K4EZ also had such a system near Atlanta.
