while i already had an mfj 989 i bought a vectronics hf 1500 because i liked
some of the features on the vectronics unit, such as gear driven tuning dials
and adjustable bar graph. i ended up returning the unit because the tuning
range was not as wide as the mfj and i have a very generic wire antenna that
i am tuning. also there was no internal dummy load on the vectronics unit. i
have heard good reports on the nye unit, however the expense of that product
was prohibitive. would enjoy learning what you decided to go with. good luck,
