Hello Lee,
As you have noted, the distance from the base of the tower is dependent on the
angle of radiation. My 1000' distance would be for a lower angle than your 7
wavelengths (485' on 20m). Using the 1000'
approximation, a taller tower should be used than with the 7 wavelength
approximation.
