The undercoat works fine -- I just moved and took down an 80 ft. Rohn 25
tower that had the undercoated base 3 ft. in the ground (no concrete) and the
tower up, for 24 years with 4 el 20, 15, and 10 m monobanders. The base was in
excellent condition with some signs of rust around the very bottom edges of
each leg. The lightning ground was provided by one inch Cu pipes, 10 ft in
the ground strapped to each leg.
In the Atlanta area we had many storms and much lightning, but no problems. I
just put a tower back up the same way with a new base and hope I last as long
as it will!!
