HI all
I used to have a rig set up in my camp trailer a few years
back. I found one antenna that worked really well was a Hustler
mobile antenna with some wire added to it. I was playing around
on 75, trying work some of the gang. My signal was pretty puny.
I experimented with trying to add some wire to the Hustler.
Adding a 60 foot piece at the top did nothing but make everything
worse. I loosened the resonator, and hooked the wire onto the
mast right at the bottom of the resonator and tightened the
resonator back up. The S.W.R. was fantastic, and my signal came
up considerably. I just hooked up a half-wave piece of wire for
whichever band I was operating on and tossed the other end over a
tree limb somewhere. It also worked great on the mobile in the
car that way, (when not in motion :-)) Cheap and easy way to
go. 73
