Esteemed Reflectees,
Upon surveying my tiny weeny San Diego surburban lot I have come to this
conclusion:
I have approx. 60 feet in width by around 130 feet in depth. This adds up to
380 feet. Now my idea:
1. Erect a low level horizonal loop measuring 60 feet on two ends and 130
feet in the other two ends. From the sky it would look like a rectangle. Why
do this? Well, feeding it with open wire feed would give me a nice all band
alternate (low noise?) receive antenna and heck, maybe even a decent 80
meter xmit ant for local rag chews if at least up off the ground a few feet.
If I open the far end in the middle (the 60 foot end) this would be approx
2.7 wavelengths on 20 meters. Not sure what this would do but I seem to
remember Paul Carr N4PC doing something like this in a CQ mag. a few years
ago but can't remember the results.

The feed point is in the middle of one of the 60 foot legs. Either run it as
a closed loop or run it as an open loop with the opposite side of the feed
piont open with a relay when desired.
So I am curious if this would play on 20 meters.
Any ideas?
I might just put it up anyway and see what happens!! I have several nice
ceramic relays that I can open and short the far 60 foot end with.
An option would be to make it a V-beam but it would barely be a 2
wavelengths long vee beam (on 20 meters)
and probably not have that much gain.
