I think I had that problem once and it was the fuse.
Boy, it was a long time ago but I vaguely remember there is a fuse inside
that protects the meter and if it's blown the meter ALWAYS shows 180.

in the control box, which mine doesn't. Going against station policy before
a contest, I'd like to swap out the two boxes and use the one with the
brake.

out, and it doesn't show that it's turning, when in fact I hooked up the old
box again and it shows that the antenna is in a different position. the old
box works ok, but the new doesn't....hmmmm..... Check the wiring inside the
control box and it looks the same to the terminal strip, and everywhere else
too from what I can see. Is there a difference between different vintage
control boxes that I don't know about?

someone might have run across this already.
