Is anyone out there in Towertalk land using a single tool to measure
tension for both 1/4" and 5/16" EHS guys? I see the Loos PT-3 is
supposedly "rated" only for 9/32" to 3/8". The PT-2 only goes up to 1/4"
cable. Too bad they don't make a PT-2.5!
As far as I can tell, there's no physical reason I can't clamp a PT-3 on a
1/4" guy, but I guess the conversion table on it only goes down to 9/32".
So, thinking like a cheap ham, can't I just get by with only a PT-3
(assuming all my guys will be either 1/4" or 5/16"), if I just calibrate a
660-lb point on the scale for 1/4" cable? In other words, all I really
care about is that my 1/4" guys are at 660 lb and the 5/16" guys are at
1100 lb, or whatever the numbers are. I can see how there might be some
accuracy issues if the tension I wanted to measure was near the high or
low end of the usable range of the device, but it's not.
