when you get to the level the multi multi competitors are at you need em
all...a single QSO in that rare zone is enough for the single op - but the
multi-multi's job is to work several of them...its job is to maximize 48
hours on each given band - the single op weighs his ability to work an
optimized cross section of mults which are "the easy ones" plus a little
more on each respective band - the multi multi on the other hand has a 20
meter station QRV for 48 hours...it is an entirely different
approach...simply sharing a common ground with the single op - just more of
it...for this reason some people hate multi-multis while others adore them
as maximizers versus optimizers of a band.
Personally I love em - all that hardware...what not to like :-)
