I'm in the process of lightning recovery, and found out something that may be of general interest.

Both my Yaesu rotators are dead, and in looking at options for repair or replacement I found out that Yaesu parts department has rotators and control boxes priced separately. The G-800 is a very good deal, at $192 plus shipping, versus $329 for the non-preset version with control box. However, Yaesu wants $428 for the G-1000 rotator only. That's only $70 less than a typical retail price for the G-1000DXA with the presettable control box. Incomprehensible, but they insist, "That's the price."
