I suspect this debate has gotten into diminishing returns, but must comment that my EF-240S has been up 7 years so far with no problems from either the linear loading or the helical hairpin match. It's not a great antenna, pattern-wise, and the mechanics look scarey, but at 104 feet it has stood everything that Ma Nature could throw at it, including a lightning hit.
