I was told the same thing. They ARE unnecessary on the new style because the
new style is beefed up and more stiff...a slightly different style than the
old two bolt ones. I would stick with the torque arms on the old style, since
you already have them.
The new ones have spacer washers in them to stop any play...the old ones had
lots of room if the torque bars were not inserted.
