Anyone have any success stories regarding the CobWebb antenna?

I'd like to get one but it's about $500 to get one here after the exchange rate and shipping. Just wondering if anyone had tried one of these before and had any opinions to share... or if there's a better list to move the thread to i'd be happy to take it there.

An interesting take on a compact loop antenna, or, perhaps, more properly, a shortened, endloaded dipole. It's a clever design, and would be simple to model in NEC, but isn't going to be easy to analyze in other ways.

Since it's physically larger than a classic 1m compact loop, the radiation resistance will be higher, so the current will be lower, probably reducing loss (compared to a compact loop). One couldn't analyze it as a loop, because the classical compact loop analysis assumes that the current is the same everywhere in the loop, which is only true for a very small loop.

It will probably be more omnidirectional than a dipole, so the gain, compared to a dipole, would be lower.

As far as ground interaction and so forth goes, I doubt it's much different than a dipole at the same height.
