My D-40 exhibited a fairly narrow bandwidth when I used a ferrite-bead
current balun, but when I replaced it with a coaxial solenoid choke, the
bandwidth
increased and the SWR exhibited the manufacturer's specs.
There's a moral in there somewhere...
