2 Cents worth: A SteppIR can be "adjusted" for top loading - as you move the elements, you can see how it interacts on your system, and move the elements to the position that may optimize your installation. Once you've determined it, you can save that antenna configuration, and push a button to move the elements to that position. With fixed beams, you get what you got. It may not make a bunch of difference, either way, however.....just a thought. I love the 4 element SteppIR, so my comments are a tad biased.
