I'm with Bill. I refurbished an old Rohn 25G this year, and used sandpaper and then the Rustoleum from Home Depot. I then sprayed a coat of ultra flat black Krylon, available from WalMart. I found it necessary to allow the Rustoleum to cure for 24 hours before applying the Krylon to get the best result. The black Krylon will fade in extreme sunlight in a few years, ending up much lighter - about medium gray.

Some guys don't like it, but I use Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing spray. I have
used it on stuff I could not galvanize or had rusted. I used sandpaper and
wire brush to prep it. It has lasted a long time in this humid Florida
environment. It's available at Home Depot.
