The predecessor of HFTA was N6BV's YT which
is included in your 19th edition. See page 3-13
and the CD-ROM. I thought the comments about it not
being available until the 20th edition were bogus
since I used YT when I put up my 10m stack in 1999
and later was a beta tester for the new HFTA version
in the 20th edition.

out for the 20th edn, anyone know?

YT may not have all the refinements
of HFTA but it worked fine for my application.
ARRL has also posted changes in the methodology
used to download HFTA terrain data here:

www.arrl.org/notes/9043/HFTA-Changes.pdf

You may be able to use some of those tips with
YT also.
