There were two brothers in NYC who wanted a "retirement business" so 
they started Gotham.  The designs were simple and unsophisticated. 
One of their "bread and butter" antennas was a base loaded vertical.

Hy-gain sold one too called the 18V. It is  ~20' high and is base 
loaded with a coil. You can get the current specs at

The boys moved to Florida, made antennas in the morning and played 
the ponies at the race track in the afternoon.
