Along the same lines you could use one of those cheap, low voltage buzzers
feed the DC through the cable to the other end and the buzzer. They make
enough hash the cable should be easy to find, unless the buzzer makes so
much has they whole area gets saturated with noise as with a shorted
electric fence.
