Another option is to use the 30W, TO-220 style thick film resistors from 
Caddock. Mouser sells them. They are available for 50 ohms, are 1% 
precision and non-inductive... and are also very good. If you mount them 
on a TO-220 style heat sink and solder the whole mess to a PL-259 they 
will easily handle 5W... more if you use a bigger heat sink. Another 
choice would be the Panasonic 3W 5% metal oxide resistors that DigiKey 
sells... you could bundle several to get 50 ohms +/- a few percent and 
solder them to a PL-259.

I have used both with good success.
