I never thought of that.. you're right (and it will probably be sooner than 
that for the field reversal).  All the more important to be using 
astronomical methods like the sun. Of course, if you live in somewhere that 
has weather like the California central valley in winter, you could wait 
for a LONG time before seeing the sun.
