I am very fortunate to have a number of long Beverages
for 160m receive. These work very well for DX, but
during CQWW last weekend I realised that they are much
too directional for running the US - if a W7 calls
when I am beaming south I just don't hear him even if
he is going to be 100% copy on the right antenna. I
think I need another receive antenna which is less
noisy than the TX antenna, not necessarily very good
for DX, and which covers the whole US.... That means
it has to receive over about 180 degrees and be aimed
slightly west of south.

I am considering:

(1) A short Beverage - perhaps 300';
(2) A single K9AY;
(3) A single flag;
(4) A single EWE.

The Beverage would be by far the simplest to install,
and I only have a few weeks before the snow flies, but
I would be very interested in any views on which would
be likely to achieve my aims best?
