Group, What I thought was a bad balun turns out to be my jacked feed from
the 10 meter driver to the 20 is cooked I see now while replacing loading
wires on a 30 meter antenna. I called Tom and he told me he never seen or
heard
of a problem like that except from a DX station who ran some HP through it. I
do not tune this antenna on any WARC bands. It is used for 10-15-20 only. I
rarely run over 1 KW into the antenna. Has anyone seen this before or know why
it might have happened? Its an easy fix with new direct burial 12 gauge ,
but I am curious why it happened. The only thing I can think of is when it was
raining out quite heavy the insulator on the element was so wet it became
conductive and shorted out. Any ideas while I have things apart now getting
serviced ? Hard to believe I was sweating with a tee shirt on up on the tower
in
November here on Long island..what a beautiful day !

Direct email to me is best.

                                         Thx, Pete NA2P
