A yaesu 800 is in place inside the tower, is it going to harm the rotor

Yessireebob. The rotator is only weatherproof when it's mounted in its
normal vertical position. There aren't any gaskets or anything to keep the
water out so you could either take it out or cover it with something - then
you'd be okay.
