Well, Im 66 and still climb; including my 180' Rohn 45. Ive 4 towers on the
property.
The secret is to never stop climbing, dont smoke and keep in reasonable
shape. Since I retired I walk 2-3 miles daily (all uphill on the return leg)
weather permitting, and do some work with weights. I actually feel stronger
than I did 10 years ago. A phone call will bring others if I need help on
the top or on the hoisting ropes.
I know several that are in their 70's and still climb and a good friend that
owned a commercial tower business finally stopped at 72.
My first climb was when I was 16 at a June VHF Contest. One of my buddies
dad owned a 650' commercial tower and building down in LINY with several
spare feedlines going to the big platform at the top. Too young and stupid
to be scared, I made that trip several times hauling antennas up and down.
