I have a C.A.T.S. DPU-1800d rotor, which is a drop-in replacement for a CDR
Ham-IV or T2X. It has twice the power of a T2X, but uses a DC motor with no
clunky(i.e., noisy) brake, and is very quiet. It only uses a 5 conductor
cable. It's a beautiful, rugged rotor but, unfortunately, carries a high
price tag (about $1100, as I recall.)

Mine makes a noticable 'klunk' when the brake is disengaged for rotation
and when rotation is completed. It can be heard within 50 to 60 feet of
the tower. The rotor itself makes a 'quiet' whir sound. Neither can be
heard inside the house.
