Ron,
I just moved in to a new home in GA, what I noticed is that the
electrical contractor tied to both an external ground rod plus a second
tie to the rebar used in the basement walls. My basement is poured
concrete and when the builder was installing the rebar I noticed that he
had ties between the different sections different from the normal ties
between rebar. As I understand it there is a NEC code requiring this
type of connection. Is it good for lighting or bad I do not know.
Guess only time will tell. I did not have the builder tie the rebar in
the tower base pour and my plans are to use three straps and separate
ground rods plus a field of radials with additional rods at the ends. I
have started the rods at the house and plan on at least four plus tie-in
to the power common point ground rod. Got my rods at Home Depot and I'm
sure there like Lowes
Good luck with mother nature.
