[TowerTalk] Low-Band Rx Antenna vs. 4-square?

I have a question which needs to be answered to figure out some 
filtering/switching schemes.

 

Would a low-band directional receive antenna, such as a Beverage or a 
Flag/Pennant, ever be better on receive than an already-directional transmit 
antenna, such as a  4-square or phased loops? Question applies to 160, 80m, 40m.
