Is it important or helpful to fill the control cable connector that plugs
into the rotator with dielectric gel (such as Dow Corning) to prevent water
intrusion?

I understand that if I ever had to repair the soldered connectors inside
(extremely unlikely) that the goop would be a pain. But other than that, is
there any downside? Or is it complete overkill?

Rotator is Yaesu G-1000DXA but I would think this question applies to any
rotator connector.

Thanks in advance,

73,

Michael - N6MEF
