Gentlemen,

Some may recall my fairly recent enquiry regarding the sources of ex WWII
masts, as used by the RAF during the 1950's, I have now located a source of
this information, and the detail may be of use to the group. Sadly I have
not, as yet, located any of the mast types described.

The information is provided by the EX RAF Aerial Erectors Association and
the details are located at http://www.harrigers.co.uk/odds.htm where
virtually all the differing types of masts and towers, including the 97ft
type 35A using three cigar shaped sections mast I enquired about can be
found, together with guying diagrams and methods of erection. It would
appear that the design and construction of the various masts and towers were
carried out by UK government departments, to specific requirements by the UK
military, and that would explain why there was no obvious commercial source
or post war exploitation of the designs.

I hope this may be of interest to the group, sincerely, John,
G3JVC/GM3JVC
