Just for clarification about LMR900:
There absolutely is a coaxial cable called LMR900 made by Times Microwave
and sold through their distributors. It is a low loss and quality cable with
performance approaching that of 7/8" Heliax type cables.
There is not a product offered called LMR900U.
## per Joe at Times Microwave. They actually did make LMR-900-UF
but the demand for it was not there, so it was discontinued asap. It
either was never sold at all... or was only in circulation for a very short
period of time. 900-UF is STILL listed on their power/attenuator
drop down box of various cables. It's still listed on various Wye-fi
commercial group sites.
## TOO bad, cuz it would be a superb cable. The UF versions
are super flexible,and much easier to install. I use 1200-DB,
and it's no fun to install it ! 900-DB is just as bad.
## 900-UF would be an ideal cable, for going up the side of a
crank up. Lower loss than 600-UF. They missed the boat on this one.
They should have made it avaialable, even if it meant fewer
productions runs per year. There is still a market for it.
## a lot of folks would use 900-UF vs 1200-DB... simply based
on faster/easier install in a lot of commercial /ham applications....
even though 1200-DB has lower loss.

Cables sized from LMR600 and lower are available in the standard or the "U"
version. The U designator implies a stranded center conductor allowing
more flexibility as well as repeated flexing as in a rotor loop or crank up
tower service.
It is extremely unusual to see an amateur installation using a size larger
than LMR600.
