This is from a 25 year electronics (RF and other) technician's point of view of 
engineers. 
Customer orders a system, salesman writes up order and promises the world. 
Engineer takes order, designs and upgrades the system, sends it off to 
production. 
System delivered to customer for installation. Tech installs the system and 
finds that the system does not work the way customer ordered it. 
Tech calls engineer and is informed it works the way he designed it and it is 
no longer his problem and it is up to the tech to make it work the way the 
customer wants it to. 
Tech re-engineers the system, gets it working the way the system was ordered. 
Tech gets brunt of customers anger because the system costs more than was 
quoted.
