No one says that you can't use stranded wire for grounds.
 The reason not to use stranded is because when you get corrosion at the
connections it is difficult if not impossible to properly clean the stranded
wire for a renewed connection.

Since stranded wire is already installed, the best kind of connection would
be to cad weld a large lug on the end of the stranded wire. Then connect the
lug to a clamp on the tower leg that is isolated with a piece of stainless
so that no copper touches the galvanized tower.

The two piece bronze ground clamps available at hardware stores will work
well. That is the kind that has the teeth that clamps on a pipe and has a
large screw or bolt to attach the ground wire.

Be sure that no copper is above any galvanized part of the tower where rain
water can drip from the copper onto the galvanized tower parts as copper
ions will wash the galvanized material away.
