Never, never, never drill into tower legs. The galvanizing is now 
compromised. No
matter how small, long term it's not too healthy.
The clamps for structural work just fine, 5 years later no indication of 
dissimilar metals
problems, nor any corrosion on my 90 footer.
By the way you can by cold galvanizing type paint to protect the 
connections.
