You might consider replacing the rivets on general principles. My EF-180C, which had been around for a while before I bought it, had about 30% of the rivets loose, a few missing, and the remainder ok. I drilled out all of them and replaced them with cross bolted machine screws of an appropriate diameter and spacing.

It would make a lot more sense to tweak the LL rods..and leave the tips alone.  
 Makes more sense to me to make the ele max length
and use LESS LL  if you want to move the freq up higher in the band.

Does anybody have experience with this..or know the answer ?   The new owner of F12  
doesn’t  know either.
