Hi Folks!

I am selling my beloved mobile ham shack with its unique 28 ft crankup
tubular tower. This cable driven tower can be raised and lowered by
hand using a 1/2 inch ratchet handle in about two minutes. The base
of the tower is supported by a custom offset base bracket that is
inserted into a two inch trailer hitch receiver and a
heavy duty custom cargo roof rack on top. Just add a rotator and a
suitable mast, and you can get up to 45 or more feet with your
antennas! This is a great vehicle for EMCOM, Field Day, Hilltopping
and more!

It is based on a 1997 Ford E350XLT van with a 6.8l Triton V10 engine
that has only 85K miles on it. The van has 385K miles, but it is in
fairly good shape, with a bit of rust in spots and a need for a new
rear section of the exhaust.

It has two front bucket seats with a bulkhead mount in the front
console area for radios, computers and the like according to your
preferences. The front console is fed by a piece of fused #4 cable
from the battery.

Right behind the front seats, it has a single forward-facing bench
seat that faces a large custom operating desk/workbench. It is really
great for doing on-site bench work and operating. The bench is long
enough to stretch out for a snooze while operating overnights and
there is LOTS of cargo room in the rear behind the bench seat for all
sorts of gear or even to sleep two or more operators!

It has heavy cabling to an inside electrical box mounted just inside
the rear door of the van to provide access to 12V power or to provide
a jump, should the need arise. It also features a custom steel ladder
on the rear door and 2 inch receiver and electrical hookups for a
trailer.

This photo shows the tower and how it fits on the steel portion of the
rack and custom bumper mount. This is a photo of the tower and the
cable conduit on the van when the steel rack was full length. The
steel rack is now a much shorter platform but has been extended with a
more lightweight but sturdy
aluminum rack over the roof. It includes a solid aluminum mounting
plate for HF and VHF/UHF antennas running across aluminum rack.

I have included photos of the full vehicle as it is currently configured.

The tower takes about ten minutes to install or remove. It also shows

a 96 inch rack box which is no longer on the roof as I found it to be an

impediment to carrying some antennas and other goodies on the roof.

I will say though, that it is very convenient for carrying "quick access"
items,

cables, lighting and the like. It is a matter of taste!

There is also a white PVC tube on the passenger side that I still have
that can be used to bring cables down the outside of the van and
underneath to a rectangular hole with grommet for cables to enter
inside the side wall of the rear of the van. I can give you that
cable tube as well if you are interested.

To take a look, please text or call me at 201 314 6964 or email me.

I am asking $3,500 or best offer. I will sell the tower and mobile shack
separately, but at a premium for either one.

Make an offer and I'll give it some consideration.

Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT at ARRL dot NET
