While all the gap type suppressors will protect the amp just fine, the
input of the rcvr is going to have over 1000V across it before the gap
fires. while a 1/4 wave coaxial stub is a bit long to be the only
protective device at 144 MHz, the stub will protect the amp and divert a
lot of the energy away from the rcvr. Having the antenna relay be in the TX
position when power is off will also help protect the rcvr. I sent this to
