The half wave multiple is certainly needed for taking R +j measurements.  
For simple vswr measurements the vswr is not changed by the line length as 
long  as line losses are low.
 
This is assuming 50 ohm test equipment and a 50 ohm line of course.

##  You could use ANY length of coax..then tweak the yagi for 1:1 swr at the 
freq of interest. 
You cant tweak the yagi with it 3 ft above ground on saw horses anyway..waste 
of time.
It will shift a huge amount higher in freq when on top of the tower.   Even if 
you point it
straight up, you want the  REF above the ground by several feet. 

##  Ron, VE7XR had me re-tweak his telrex 3 el 20m yagi..which was on a 26 ft 
boom.  I used
YO-7.0  at the time.  All you can do with a telrex is tweak the tip lengths.   
Even then, it worked a helluva
lot better than oem.    Im sure you could do the same with the telrex 10m yagi.
