I stopped after my first try at age 19.

I believe it was ON4UN that suggested running cables inside the tower would
help. I ran my cables inside but have not shunt fed my tower yet so I don't
know if that will really help.

Reading about 3-wire cages and the like, I feel a serious case of shunt
envy. Mine is a single wire about 18 inches from one corner of my Rohn
25, connected to the tower at about 50 feet. I used an omega match with
a couple of 3 KV transmitting variables, because my tower is quite tall
for 160 (97 feet with 3 yagis, 2 on top) and I could not find a 50-ohm
point. It was absurdly easy to adjust and seems to work quite well at 100
watts. I'm sure there are better solutions (including Herb's), but this
was really simple.

I shunt feed my small (HDBX-48) tower on top band. All my cables are run inside
the tower and I have had no problems with RFI into anything at 1500 W.

I'm 77 ... stopped climbing when my knees told me to stop .. about 10
years ago.
Occasionally, I climb the TV tower to the roof ... only 15 feet up.
Once is enough.

I'm 78, 79 next April and still have my belts, but last tower climbed was a
year ago and only a 40 footer. Physical body parts worked OK but noticed I
sure didn't feel as mentally comfortable up there as I used to. Maybe a
message from the spirits! My wife has made it clear she is not comfortable
with me going up a tower either (clearer voice than the spirits!!)
And that is why I moved to crankups, layover fixtures and the use of
man-bucket trucks some years back.
