Hi Dick,

Best way to learn it is to measure it. Find the null frequencies of a known length of the cable as a stub, then do the arithmetic. Try to make the measurements at frequencies near where you want to use the cable, because Vf varies a bit with frequency. An analyzer as simple as an MFJ works for this.
