I got into this conversation late. I have used Sling Shots, Weighted Arrows and other wire antennaI launching systems but the best I have ever usd is the compressed air CSV-17 Antenna Launcher and it works like a charm.

The secret to a good gun is a valve with a big throat and fast action. Got mine as a kit. BTW, I found that the bicycle "foot" pump available at Walmart works just fine. My biggest problem is remembering to open the bail on my fishing reel.

70 PSI. Yes, but look out! Some PVC pipes like Drain & Waste
pipes are not rated for pressure. Just sayin'.

We took an 15 inch section of 3 inch PVC and with reducers necked it
down to
1 1/2 inches in the back and installed a rubber tire valve in it.
On the
front we reduced it down to 3/4 inches and installed a 3/4 pvc valve
which
was then reduced to 1/2 inch PVC for about 18 inches for a barrel.
At
Walmart they have 3/4 ounce STEEL egg fishing weights that fit
perfectly
down a 1/2 inch pvc pipe. Pressurize the chamber, mount an old
Zebco reel
under the barrel with the line through the weight, aim and shoot. I
can
shoot the weight 100 yards on 70 psi. Email me for pics of my gun.
There
is an ad in the last couple of pages of QST for a commercial model.
