"In the old days<:-), probably about when you had your experiences, my late boss (a ham), from many, many years ago used 6 meters to get away from the CB crowd, BUT 6-meters was not without its hazards. Those were the years when 6 was open (Mid to late 60s) and I mean really open. There were a number of high power VHF stations and a lot of simple, low power stations as in the Heathkit "Lunch boxes". Dale was out flying his RC model when he "lost control" of it. The plane disappeared behind the High School. When he went around to that side, he spotted the wings "in top of the large green house". Just the wings. He was able to retrieve the wings, but the "body of evidence" had gone through the glass and into the flower and plants inside! One ham, who was just over a mile from that location ran the legal limit on six, CW. I think he may have been on at the time.

As a young lad who could only afford really cheap super regen receivers for an RC airplane operating on CB freqs I really hated it when the local sawbones fired up his 27 MHz diathermy machine and forced my hours of work (in constructing the airplane and mopping floors to get the bucks to buy it and the RC equipment) to get to watch it in a vertical spiral dive auger into Terra firma (AKA cumulus dirt.)

Has anyone taken a good SW receiver to the property with a reasonable HF
antenna and listened to the local noise level at different times?

Part 15 diathermy machines are said to be the worst RFI generators.
Theoretically you can force the Part 15 user to stop using it if it causes interference to your licensed system, but have fun convincing a doctor or
dentist to turn off their revenue generator!

Local jurisdictions have NO authority to regulate RFI. That authority
belongs exclusively to the federal government. A zoning change denial that incorporates potential RFI issues into the decision would not likely stand
judicial scrutiny.

Doesn't mean that you're not right to consider the issue yourself, however. Most non-type accepted electronic equipment is either covered by Part 15 or
not at all. The latter can be a problem. I once had a neighbor with a
whole house audio system that rather nicely repeated any SSB transmissions.
To the technical minded, it's easy to understand that it wasn't MY fault
that his audio amplifier was acting as a receiver; but he could not
understand that.

Our North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club (NOARC) is about to purchase a small (.3 of an acre) piece of land (mortgage company owned) at a very good price.
There is a MD's office about 100 feet from this location and an Dentist
office about 300 feet from it.
Two of our members have put up the $$ to buy the property. We got to
talking at the after meeting ragchew last night. Every property owner within 300' of any part of the property will be notified of the public hearing on
the zoning change from R1 to C1.

We wonder if either the Doctor or the Dentist might object, saying our ham
stations could interfere with their equipment?

Any suggestions about how much interference we might get from any of their
equipment? Or how much we might do to their equipment.

Closing on the property is in about 3 weeks. We wonder if we should go
visit the Dentist (and I know him) and the Doctor to determine what kind of equipment they have and assure them that our radiation will not interfere
with them.

This bargain land may not be a bargain if there are issues with either the
Dentist or the Doctor!

We will have a three HF station setup.. all 100W rigs..and a 2 meter//440 base station.(Maybe an Amp sometime in the future). We'll have a TH11DX, a
VHF/UHF non directional, and a 6 meter beam up on a 70' tower. We'll be
able to put up a couple of wire antennas, one up to 275' the other around
100'.

Pictures of the property are on our website w4aaz.org

comments anyone.
